The timing gets weird Leni arrived in Alaska, was arrested, met with Tom Walker, was detained all day in a cell, went to court, appeared before a Judge and all was dismissed. At this point in the book it feels like we're just flying to the end. I do mind that at Leni's reunion with Matthew, there was almost no reaction from Leni. I don't mind that this wasn't accurately portrayed in the novel, because it wouldn't have added much. I don't think a 7 year old would leave his Mom (In the jail cell scene) and happily go with a stranger, and I don't think he would take to his father immediately, with or without scars.

There are many unnatural reactions in this book. I don't think a 7 year old would leave his Mom (In the jail cell scene) an …more MJ would have been 6 or 7.
